Alright, just finish a very long week of camp and courses. Almost 10 day consecutive of staying out.
Started off with Specialist course on 1 June, my first “big” camp. At first, I was supposed to be PC for platoon 6 but after asking for a change of post because I won’t be around for the last day, I was change to become S1. It was also because S1 got to be done by the night itself and the understudy wasn’t there, so I just exchange place lor. Haha. First time we had to go over to camp ourselves. We took MRT to Joo Koon, then walk over to SDC cause the meeting area was there. Started off with attendance taking then cadets were move bus by bus to Pasir Lebar Camp.
The whole first day, I was super stressed up. I didn’t know doing S1 was so much work. I think I was the first one can, I got to call all COs whose cadets are in camp to confirm manpower. My phone bills will confirm go burst de. I spent like 3 hours doing so can. After that, there was so many problems that came out from the cadets side, really can kill them lah. Because of some cadets, our strength on the nominal roll kept on changing. It was only finalize I think on the end of the second day. Many other problems surfaced, but it is not convenient to mention any of them. I also didn’t stay for the last day, cause got tests in school. And I wasn’t really feeling well after camp too.
After that, I rested for about 13hours? Haha. Friday was normal day in school, pon the makeup lesson for C Programming. Anyway, also do nothing de. Just go there and do past year paper? LOL. Then evening time, went back to Montfort for Leaders’ Camp. When I reach there, saw all the instructors in No.4, only I one person in civilian, so I paiseh lah, went back home to change also. Haha. Lucky uniform already dry from all the airing in the day. I won’t talk about the whole camp, cause I didn’t attend everything. But this time, it is sort of a different feel when attending liao. Cause now attending as an old boy/ cadet officer, so it is of different status lah. You will see the stuff that you did as a cadet once and sometimes it really brings back memories.
I left Pulau Ubin on the second day of camp, cause Sunday got to go church. Sunday, went to church as usual. Then after everything, went over to Hougang Mall. Sort of “wasted” time there until 3pm then went home. Haha. We had fun lah, going around inside and outside of Hougang Mall, laughing and playing. And also, again we went to our favorite eat place, Café Cartel. Spent quite some time inside there also. I think we played quite a lot inside also. Haha. Before we left, went to buy Uncle Sam’s birthday present. Think so long for what to buy, finally decided on pen. Those that you use for work de. We buy got brand de ok, Parker sia. Haha. Then we went down to the second level to do carving on it. I would say, it was a fun day. LOL.
The next three days, was Basic PDS Course. It has really been some time since I thought PDS le, so I also need time to refresh on all my drills. I was a bit luckily during the course, I got only 4 trainees under me while the HCI trainers got 11 cadets each under them. But my trainees were all cadet officers. I tell you, it is really difficult to teach. I want to go down hard, but just very difficult for me to do it. They kept on playing and stuff, I don’t know if they really learn anything from the 3 days. I seriously don’t know what to say about them, they really throw my face to the core lah. The test that we had for the last day, I really just wanted to find a hole and hide my head. Haix.
But I think the cadets, they really put in a lot of effort. I can see from the test, although I never take them personally for the course itself. Some of their drills are really superb. But on another hand, I got to fail cadets. I really don’t want to fail them, but there isn’t any way for me to help them pass. I really crack my head but still to no avail. The whole course, I would say was sort of a success. Only that logistics and administration part for the first day.
Ok, let me blog a bit about yesterday. After piano lesson, went to East Coast Park to meet up with Secondary School friends. Really been some time since I see them le. We really had a lot of fun. Haha. Played the whole night through, most of us never sleep at all. I think of all the BBQs I went to, this is the one where I had the most fun. I laugh until my six pecs also come out lah. We were playing the thumb game for like a few rounds and the bottom line is, Montfort people always win SKY. Haha. I very lazy to blog about the whole event lah, I’m sure Clive or someone else who was there will blog about it. Haha. So look out in their blogs.
